Police: Body Found Near Metrolink Tracks May Be Possible Suicide

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Passengers commuting from Orange County to Los Angeles Monday morning were routed around a police investigation after a man's body was discovered.

Metrolink dispatchers were notified about the body, which was found between the Norwalk-Santa Fe Springs and Commerce stations in Whittier around 3:10 a.m., according to Whittier police.

The body was located on railroad tracks near the San Gabriel River and Slauson Avenue and appears to be a possible suicide, police said.

A vehicle was also found on a bridge where the man, who is believed to be in his 50s, may have fallen or jumped.

Passengers were put on buses at the Norwalk station and taken to Union Station.

The tracks were reopened shortly before 7:30 a.m., Metrolink officials said.
