Man In Wheelchair, 48, Killed Trying To Cross Highway In Perris

PERRIS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 48-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck and killed as he tried to cross Highway 74 in Perris.

The unidentified man was struck by a flatbed pickup truck and declared dead at the scene, said officials.

Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Jody Hagemann said the accident was reported just before 6:10 p.m.

The collision occurred on Highway 74 near Meadowbrook Avenue.

The decedent’s name was withheld pending notification of family.

It was unclear if the pickup truck’s driver was cited. The CHP is investigating.
