LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Approximately 2,000 turkeys were being handed out in downtown Los Angeles Monday during the city’s largest turkey distribution of the Thanksgiving season.
Butterball, The Los Angeles Convention Center, and ARAMARK, the convention center’s food service provider, partnered with elected officials to give away turkeys to pre-selected families in need.
“In order to receive a turkey, recipients must present a voucher. Vouchers will be distributed in advance to community members selected by the office of each city council member,” Lori Shachtman said.
Butterball donated 1,000 turkeys for the fifth annual event at the Los Angeles Convention Center, organizers said.
