LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Are you a Belieber yet?
Justin Bieber was the big winner at Sunday’s 40th annual American Music Awards. But if you’re a Justin Bieber fan you already knew that.
In all, Bieber won three awards including the Artist of the Year prize (the night’s most prestigious honor), favorite male Pop/Rock artist and for favorite Pop/Rock Album for “Believe.”
For his final award of the evening, Bieber pulled his ever-youthful mother on stage with him.
Nicki Minaj, soon to be seen as a judge on “American Idol,” was the night’s only other multiple winner. Minaj was chosen favorite female Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and won the favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album category (“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”).
Other winners included Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce, Usher and Linkin Park. Katy Perry was selected favorite female Pop/Rock Artist.
Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen won the New Artist of the Year honor to the surprise of … no one. Her “Call Me Maybe” was one of the summer’s biggest hits and was #1 for nine weeks.
The night also included a tribute to the late Dick Clark, the producer/TV icon who created the American Music Awards.
Winners were chosen from a fan ballot.
