SANTA ANA (KNX 1070) — Hundreds of at-risk youth in Orange County have taken part in a challenge to win their families free turkey dinners for Thanksgiving.
KNX 1070’s Mike Landa reports that nearly 500 elementary and middle school students at more than 20 schools took part in the Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership (OC GRIP) challenge.
A principal at one of the participating schools, Diamond Elementary School, told Landa that her students were asked to identify three goals with their teachers that they wished to improve upon over about a three-week period.
“If they met their goals, they were able to earn a turkey for their families,” Denise Bertrand said.
