SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — An elderly woman was found dead in her ransacked home in San Bernardino Wednesday afternoon.
The body of Mary Elizabeth Blaskey, 76, was discovered by her son just before 2 p.m. at a residence on the 3000 block of Fremontia Drive.
Blaskey’s son, who was at the house to take his mother to a doctor’s appointment, quickly called police and reported what looked like a home invasion robbery.
“We did find the house ransacked like it was burglarized,” said an officer.
The victim’s son also said Blaskey’s car was missing from where it was usually parked at the front of her home.
Police are looking for the woman’s gray/green 2001 Lexus ES300 with the license plate number 4ULT539.
Neighbor Merritt Davis said Blaskey was a great person who was always helping others.
“My heart goes out to (her) family. It’s so sad to take an innocent woman’s life away who was so sweet and who would do anything for anyone,” she said.
