1 Dead, 1 Injured In Fontana Industrial Accident

FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — An industrial accident left one man dead and another injured at a concrete casting company Monday.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department received a call for medical aid at Oldcastle Precast, 10650 Hemlock Avenue in Fontana, around 7:20 a.m. Monday, officials said.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found one male victim dead and other suffering from serious injuries, Fontana police Sgt. Robert Morris said.

"Based on their preliminary investigation it appears that both men were working outside in an area used to coil cable under high pressure," Morris said. "While the cable was being rolled into coils it appears that a portion of the cable possibly snapped causing the cable to strike both men."

The injured man was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Officials did not release either victims' identities.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office and Cal/OSHA are investigating the accident.
