FULLERTON (AP) — An Orange County man has pleaded guilty to performing unlicensed dentistry, possessing dental drugs and collecting food stamps because he didn’t report his dental income.
A district attorney’s statement Thursday says 47-year-old Esteban Campos of Buena Park was sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years’ probation and fined $500. He must also pay restitution and must not practice dentistry during his probation.
He pleaded guilty Wednesday to felonies related to the drugs and food stamps, and a misdemeanor count of practicing unlicensed dentistry.
Prosecutors say Campos was a registered dental assistant whose accreditation expired in 2007. He had been posing as a licensed dentist and operating an office in Buena Park, but became the subject of an undercover investigation after a complaint late last year.
