More Than 100 Jobs Available At AEG

LOS ANGELES (CBS2) — Los Angeles-based AEG, the world's largest sports and entertainment company, has more than 100 job openings waiting to be filled all over Southern California.

Positions are available at the Staples Center, the Citizen's Bank Arena in Ontario, and the Home Depot Center in Carson, to name a few.

David Edford, the operations manager at the Staples Center, said his job is unique.

"When the Lakers had their championships, we're a part of that team just as much as the players on the court and the coaches on the bench," he said.

Edford, who is responsible for converting the ever-changing arena floor after each event, said his team had their work cut out for them when the Lakers, Clippers and the Kings were all in the playoffs at the same time.

"We went through a stretch in May where we did six events over four days," he said.

Job opportunities at AEG, however, go beyond those who convert the floors, sell merchandise, or take tickets at the sports and entertainment venues.

Todd Sims, AEG's senior VP of Strategic Development, said the company wants to hire more technology-oriented people after the successful 2011 launch of AXS.com, a platform that allows AEG to sell tickets to its own events.

Sims said, "We're hiring a lot of software engineers, a lot of product folks, those types of people."

Recruitment manager Francine Pacheco said AEG wants people to fill its corporate sector, as well.

"There are so many different opportunities with the company," she said.

AEG also foresees thousands of more job openings with the future Farmer's Field NFL stadium.
