SAN JACINTO (CBSLA.com) — A 32-year-old woman was arrested late Friday evening for allegedly aiming a laser at a police patrol vehicle and then a sheriff’s helicopter in the city of San Jacinto, authorities said.
A statement issued by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says the incident occurred about 11 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Villines Street.
A deputy patrolling the area spotted a laser being pointed at him and reported the offense. The statement said a Riverside Sheriff’s helicopter was then called to assist in the search for the culprit.
“As the helicopter searched the area, the suspect pointed the laser at the aircraft multiple times,” the statement said.
The suspect, identified by deputies as Irene Marie Levy, was arrested at her residence.
She was being held at Larry Smith Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Jail records show that Levy was facing both felony and misdemeanor counts in connection with the incident.
