LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a man shot and killed a woman in the head as she ran out of a home in San Pedro then shot and critically injured himself.

Police Officer A. Rodriguez tells City News Service on Saturday that the man shot the woman and called 911 to report the shooting at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Rodriguez says when paramedics arrived they found the man with a gunshot wound to the head and took him to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, and declared the woman dead at the scene.

Their names and ages and other details about the shooting were not immediately released.
