IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — An elderly woman was killed early Friday morning in a hit-and-run accident.
The accident occurred in the area of Live Oak and Stewart avenues in Irwindale just before 6 a.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
The 80-year-old woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit, however witnesses say she may have been crossing during a green light.
Officials are looking for the suspect’s vehicle, a silver Toyota Echo.
“Unknown license plate and possibly driven by a female,” George Zendejas of the Irwindale Police Department said.
The victim died on the scene.
Authorities are looking for the suspect and believe the car has significant front-end damage.
