Actress Arrested For Allegedly Ramming Estranged Husband's Car Repeatedly

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — Glendale police accuse a local actress of ramming her estranged husband's car three times -- while he was in it.

Alexandra Smothers, who has had bit parts in TV shows like the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," told CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Andrea Fujii, that she is scared of her ex.

She insisted that she rammed his car on Tuesday evening to prove that he was stalking her. (He declined to comment for this story.)

After he reportedly drove past her house, the 39-year-old actress (a distant cousin of the famous Smothers Brothers, according to her imdb.com bio) got in her car and went looking for him.

Smothers said, "Just pray for all the women out there who aren't being heard."

Police say she rammed her car into his driver's side door three times. She tried for a fourth time but missed.

She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon -- her SUV. Neither Smothers or her estranged husband were hurt.

Several neighbors told Fujii they witnessed the collisions. Said Leigh Beslin, "I just saw a woman in a red truck peel out really fast. And she looked pretty angry."

Neighbor Shirley Flick said, "I said [to him] 'Are you okay? Are you okay?' And he said 'I was trying to get away from her.' Who?, I said and he said, 'It was my wife.'"

The couple has been married for two years. Neighbors told Fujii they have had problems for some time.,

Kelly Callaghan said, "It was a troubled break up. He didn't want it to end."

Yesterday, Smothers was granted a restraining order against her husband.

Smothers was released on her own recognizance. She's expected back in court on the assault charge in December.
