AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday for a 63-year-old woman whose nude body was discovered in the truck of a car at tow yard.
Gloria Darland’s body was found just after 5 p.m. Tuesday in a tow yard located at 1000 W. Gladstone Street in Azusa.
The red Honda Accord was hauled to the location earlier in the day after a worker reported the car was illegally parked on a horse ranch in the 3700 block of Fish Canyon Road.
Cesar Beltran, the driver who towed the car to the yard, discovered the body after doing a routine inspection of the vehicle.
“I was doing my inventory and it asks us if it has a spare tire, so I popped the trunk to check if it had a spare tire. As soon as I opened the trunk I just seen the body laying in there,” Beltran said.
Beltran said there was no obvious damage to the car and there were numerous pieces of clothing inside.
Detectives said Wednesday they believed the car was owned by Darland.
“It is unknown at this time how the woman’s body got into the trunk of the car or what was the cause of her death,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
Officials said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
