HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 57-year-old man was under guard Tuesday at UCI Medical Center on suspicion of murdering his wife before allegedly attempting suicide at their Huntington Beach home.

Nelson Tuiolosega reportedly contacted family members Monday threatening suicide.

When the Huntington Beach Police Department arrived at the residence in the 1500 block of Huntington Village Lane around 9:45 a.m. they found Tuiolosega suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds.

Officers also found the suspect’s wife, Heather Tuiolosega, who was declared dead at the scene.

The suspected was transported to UCI Medical center in critical condition where he underwent surgery.

Tuiolosega is being held on a murder charge.
