RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Opening statements are set to begin this week in the trial of a Riverside County boy accused of murdering his neo-Nazi father last year.
KNX 1070′s Mike Landa reports a juvenile court judge has determined that 12-year-old Joseph Hall is mentally competent to stand trial.
Hall is accused of killing his father, neo-Nazi activist Jeff Russell Hall, at their Riverside home on May 1, 2011.
Police said officers found a .357 Magnum revolver under Joseph’s bed in a search of the property following the shooting.
Prosecutors maintain that Hall allegedly shot his father because of disciplinary measures taken by his dad at a party – not because he was a well-known leader of the California chapter of the National Socialist Movement.
If convicted, Hall could remain in state custody until the age of 25.
