CORONA (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian fatally struck while crossing a Corona street was identified Monday as 58-year-old David Cortez.

Cortez was struck by a sedan near the intersection of Sixth and Merrill streets Sunday evening, Corona police reported.

Officers said Cortez was walking southbound across Sixth Street when Israel Andrade, 23, allegedly struck him with his vehicle. Cortez was not in a designated crosswalk.

Cortez died at the scene.

Andrade was not cited.

Police said the investigation was ongoing.
