BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A suspected prowler was tasered and then later arrested by Beverly Hills police after he was found trespassing at Tom Cruise’s home Sunday.
Police responded to the actor’s $30 million mansion on Calle Vista Drive around 9:35 p.m. on a report of a prowler, according to officials.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a male suspect who was attempting to leave the actor’s property, Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said.
“The suspect had been previously detained by a security officer, who was on duty at the residence and had observed the suspect climbing a fence to gain access to the property,” Hoshino said. He was also tasered by the guard in an attempt to prevent him from getting away.
The suspect was later identified as Cruise’s neighbor, 41-year-old Jason Sullivan.
“Sullivan lives at an adjacent property and was intoxicated at the time of the incident,” Hoshino said. “Sullivan may have been confused and entered the wrong property.”
Sullivan was arrested for trespassing and taken to a local hospital for injuries suffered from the taser.
He was later released from Beverly Hills police custody on a citation to appear in court.
“Neither Mr. Cruise nor any of his family members were home at the time of the incident,” Hoshino said.
The actor purchased the 10,000 square-foot, 7-bedroom, 9-bath home in 2012.
The home’s original listing boasted central heating and air, a pool and hot tub and security system on the 1.18 acre property. The home was built in 1937.
