Detectives Seek Public's Help In Montebello Convenience Store Murder

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in the murder of a 19-year-old man.

Kenneth Deras was fatally shot at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 outside of a Montebello convenience store, Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials said.

Authorities say the suspect shot the 19-year-old as he exited the store in the 700 block of West Washington Boulevard.

A motive for the murder is unknown.

The suspect was last seen running southbound on South Montebello Boulevard. He got into a black compact car and drove away, officials said.

Authorities were able to obtain surveillance video of the suspect.
