Man, Wife Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Brother With A Machete

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man and his wife were in custody Monday morning on suspicion of attempted murder after the man attacked his brother with a machete in his South Los Angeles apartment.

An altercation between Macos Ayala, 40, and his brother allegedly started at the apartment at 57th Street and McKinley Avenue, police said.

Ayala allegedly attempted to hit his brother with a machete, causing a minor laceration.

He then grabbed his wife, 32-year-old Yaysi Martinez, by the hair and pulled her into the apartment.

Following a two-hour standoff, the couple surrendered, officials said.

They were both booked for attempted murder, and their two children, ages 12 and 7, were taken into protective custody.
