OC Woman Gets 17 Years For Stabbing Ex With Ice Pick

FULLERTON (AP) — Orange County prosecutors say a woman has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for stabbing her ex-boyfriend with an ice pick after hiding in the back seat of his car.

Spokeswoman Farrah Emami says 49-year-old Elizabeth Cuevas Villanueva pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other felonies before Tuesday's sentencing.

Villanueva hid in the back seat of the victim's Mercedes-Benz convertible and attacked him from behind after he got in the driver's seat outside Messiah Lutheran Church in Yorba Linda.

The man was stabbed several times in the head and shoulders and escaped after he accidentally hit the gas and slammed into a tree. He survived the attack.
