HEMET (CBSLA.com) — A man who got lost while on a day hike Saturday was found uninjured, a sheriff’s sergeant reported.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Sargent said in a department statement that the hiker was escorted back to his campsite by members of the Riverside Mountain Rescue team after a sheriff’s helicopter spotted him.
The 60-year-old unidentified man kept in contact with sheriff’s deputies via his cellular phone, Sargent said.
Deputies received a call at around 3:04 p.m. about the lost hiker. He was found more than three hours later, the statement said.
The hiker refused medical attention, Sargent said.
