HESPERIA  (AP) — A dismembered and burned body has been found in a neighborhood in Hesperia.

The sheriff’s department said firefighters were called Sunday morning to put out a fire on the side of the road. When they extinguished the fire, they saw a dismembered body of a man.

An autopsy was underway to determine the man’s race, age and identification.

Sheriff’s Sgt. John Gaffney told the Victorville Daily Press the man was likely killed somewhere else and dumped in a vacant lot by the roadside.
