Poll: LA Porn Biz Favors Obama Over Romney

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — Voters working in the San Fernando Valley adult entertainment industry overwhelmingly support a second term for President Barack Obama, according to a new poll.

Nearly 340 respondents participated in the poll by XBIZ.net, the industry's top social network, which asked, "Which candidate would you like elected U.S. president?"

Sixty-eight percent said they will vote for Obama, while only 13 percent favored Republican candidate and former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney with less than a month to go before voters head to the polls on Nov. 6.

In fact, more respondents - 14 percent in all - favored "someone else" beside either of the two candidates than those who said they would vote for Romney. Five percent said "I don't care" who wins the election.

While the results of are not entirely unexpected, Vivid Entertainment CEO Steven Hirsch said even with a shaky economic recovery, porn professionals tend to take other views into consideration.

"Most people involved with the adult industry have a liberal view of government and how it should work," Hirsch said. "Social issues are more important than fiscal issues and they will support a candidate who shares their beliefs."

Not all of the industry's power players are left-leaning: porn actress and entrepreneur Jenna Jameson said in August she fully supports the Romney campaign.

"I'm very looking forward to a Republican being back in office," Jameson said. "When you're rich, you want a Republican in office."

In addition to his relatively socially conservative platform, Romney also has set his sights on the porn industry by pledging to direct the U.S. Department of Justice to prosecute porn producers for obscenity violations if he is elected to the White House.
