Calif. Schools' API Score Increased By 10 Points

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The statewide Academic Performance Index score increased by 10 points, according to the California Department of Education.

The Los Angeles Unified schools' score rose by 16 points in the 2011—2012 school year.

The Riverside Unified School District schools rose seven points, while the Palm Springs Unified School District schools' score was up by 15 points.

The score range from 200 to 1,000 points, but California's target performance score is 800.

More than half of the state's schools met or exceeded the target score.
