INGLEWOOD (CBS) — Inglewood police officers shot and critically injured a male motorist Sunday, department officials said.
The officer-involved shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. as officers were conducting a traffic stop near 103rd Street and Prairie Avenue, according to Lt. James Madia.
“During the stop, the driver led officers to believe that he was arming himself, which precipitated the officer-involved shooting,” Madia said in a statement.
The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, suffered a single gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
