GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — Over two dozen public and private schools are joining together Wednesday morning to celebrate International Walk to School Day.
Nearly 20,000 students, parents, teachers, volunteers and community leaders representing 33 Glendale and La Crescenta schools are walking through neighborhoods on their way to school between 7:40 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Across the United States, over 5,000 schools are expected to participate along with 4 million people from 40 countries.
The annual International Walk to School Day promotes physical activity, teaches safe walking skills, reminds adults to drive safely in school zones and more important lessons for children.
