LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A sewage spill in the Cerritos Channel has closed a popular beach in Long Beach.
Authorities ordered Mother’s Beach in Alamitos Bay to be closed following a 1,000 gallon spill, which was reportedly caused by a failed sump pump in the Bixby Terrace area Sunday afternoon, according to Long Beach City’s Health Department.
Officials are expected to sample the water Monday morning to determine when the beach will be reopened.
