LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Saturday released the name of a ‘person of interest’ sought in connection with the fatal hit-and-run of a skateboarder in Orange County.
KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO Pat Haslem reported that the accident on Sept. 7 occurred in the intersection of Golden Latern and Marina Hills just before 4 a.m.
Authorities said the victim, identified as 20-year-old Carlos Eduardo Salas of Laguna Niguel, was on his skateboard when he was hit by a car and dragged about 25 feet.
Haslem said the car suspected in connection with the crash – described as a black 1998 Nissan Maxima – was found later abandoned in a nearby Laguna Niguel neighborhood.
In a statement released, authorities say the Orange County Sheriff’s Department would like to speak with the registered owner of the Nissan whom they identified as 29-year-old Urbano Carrasco Martinez of Laguna Niguel.
The statement says the man, who also goes by Mario Urbano Carrasco Martinez, “has not returned home and has not shown up to work since the collision.”
Anyone with information as to Martinez’s whereabouts is asked to call (949) 425-1860.
