SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — About 300 local businesses partnered with Metro to offer residents special discounts during the weekend’s “Carmageddon II.”
The 53-hour closure of the 405 freeway in the Sepulveda Pass, part of a $1 billion improvement project, closed a 10-mile stretch of the roadway between the 10 and the 101.
Tourist attractions and eateries provided discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent to encourage drivers to stay off the freeway and shop local.
The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, the Santa Monica Playhouse, the Los Angeles Zoo, and Universal CityWalk are a few places with a special lower price.
A map of participating businesses can be viewed at Metro.
