LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — LA Lakers forward Jordan Hill pleaded no contest Thursday morning to assault charges on a former girlfriend.

Hill, who signed a 2-year extension with the Lakers, was charged for allegedly choking his then-girlfriend at his Houston apartment, while playing with the Houston Rockets.

In exchange for the plea, the assault charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

He will also have to pay $500 fine and take counseling.
