Only On CBS2: Former Traffic Officer Speaks For First Time About Losing Job Over Porn Video

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles traffic officer is speaking publicly for the first time since he lost his job for appearing in a porn video.

John Dancler spoke to CBS2 about the film and how he's fighting to get his job back.

The L.A. Department of Transportation fired Dancler after he was seen in a racy video, shot in 2008, groping a porn star while on duty.

Dancler said his bosses knew about the video but did nothing until it went viral in 2011.

His co-worker also appeared in the video -- and, at one point, can be seen being spanked on camera – but has been reinstated.

Dancler's attorneys said the film was clearly a lapse in judgment by the former traffic officer but not worth being fired over.

At the time Dancler was fired the city released a statement which said, "Dancler was fired for misconduct on the job and in uniform. And the grounds for firing included indecent acts such as groping the bare breasts, spanking the buttocks and being straddled by an adult video actress in public."

Dancler's lawyers said their client has co-workers who have been only disciplined for far more serious matters and not fired.
