LAPD Chief Beck Back At Work After Breaking Collarbone In Motocross Accident
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck returned to work Monday after breaking his collarbone in a motocross accident.
Beck, 59, was injured Thursday after falling off an off-road bike Thursday, LAPD officials said. The accident was not part of a competition.
The LAPD's chief of police is a motocross veteran who specializes in riding vintage motorcycles and has competed in various categories of motocross and off-road racing since the 1970s.
Beck, a nationally ranked biker, underwent a medical procedure to repair the damage.
"Broken collarbones are the occasional price you pay for racing motocross," Beck told the Los Angeles Times.
