Suspect In Police Chase Jumps From Car Then Leaps Off Freeway

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A man wanted in connection with a domestic violence allegation led police on a high-speed pursuit Friday, which ended when the suspect jumped from his moving vehicle and, then, leaped off the freeway.

The driver, believed to be male, was first wanted for driving a possible stolen dark-colored Honda Accord, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police later amended that report and said the suspect was wanted for a call related to domestic violence.

The chase began around 10:12 p.m. Friday evening on Rialto, just east of G. Street, in San Bernardino.

CHP reported that they followed the suspect along the westbound 10, and the 57, while he was "weaving all over the road" and driving in excess of 115 mph.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the driver reportedly clipped several vehicles.

At approximately 10:55 p.m., the driver hit a guardrail and bailed in Rancho Cucamonga at the transition of the 15 and 10 freeways.

The man then apparently jumped over the side of the freeway in an attempt to get away.

He landed in a patch of grass below.

Paramedics transported the suspect to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, CHP reported. He reportedly suffered moderate injuries.
