Police: Texting Unlicensed Driver Blamed For Metro Bus Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Metro bus slammed into a tree at Broadway and 2nd Street, injuring everyone involved.

A woman in a white Honda Civic was texting while driving and ran a red light traveling eastbound on 2nd Street, according to LAPD Central Traffic Division.

The bus traveling northbound on Broadway tried to avoid hitting the car and crashed into a tree, police said.

The driver and all seven passengers on the bus as well as the woman all complained of injuries and were transported to a local hospital, LAPD said.

The intersection at 2nd and Broadway was closed until the bus was towed away.

Police said charges may be filed against the female driver, who does not have a valid California driver's license.
