LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck was recovering on Friday from a “minor injuries” after a motocross accident.

Beck, a nationally ranked biker, is expected to make a full recovery after he suffered a broken collarbone after falling from a off-road bike Thursday, LAPD Sergeant Rudy Lopez told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

“He was not involved in any competition, he was just on an off-road bike and he had a spill and fell from the bike,” said Lopez.

The 59-year-old LAPD chief underwent a medical procedure to repair the damage, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Sergeant Rudy Lopez said Beck is expected back at work Monday.

Beck reportedly specializes in riding vintage motorcycles, has competed in various categories of motocross and off-road racing since the 1970s. He and his family are also avid horse riders, the Times reported.
