Woman Killed In Santa Ana Hit-And-Run Accident

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A woman in her 40s was killed early Thursday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Orange County.

The woman was fatally struck by a white pickup truck while she was pushing a shopping cart around 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of West First Street in Santa Ana, police said. She was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

Authorities say the driver fled the scene and the vehicle likely has significant front end damage.

During the investigation, another vehicle drove through the police barricade and struck the woman's body, officials said. The second driver was cited for not paying attention.

Investigators believe the victim may have been homeless.
