LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former “Price Is Right” host and animal activist Bob Barker is calling for better animal care on movie sets and reform for the “No Animals Harmed” movie label.
Barker and “The Simpsons” co-creator Sam Simon say that the American Humane Association has failed to adequately oversee several recent productions, which led to animal injuries and deaths, according to claims made by whistleblowers from film and television productions.
According to the Los Angeles Times, some of the projects in question are currently in production, including “The Killing Season,” “The Lone Ranger” and “The Hobbit.”
The American Humane Association, in a statement released Thursday, says they “strongly refuted claims made” by Barker and Simon and say the incidents they are referencing occurred while animals were not on the set.
