Actress Kathy Bates Tweets About Double Mastectomy

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Kathy Bates has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is recovering Thursday from a double mastectomy, she announced on Twitter.

The 64-year-old actress said she was diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago.

Bates hasn’t tweeted in months, stopping shortly after her show Harry’s Law was canceled.

She tweeted Wednesday for the first time since May 28.

The Oscar-winning actress was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003.

She was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for Harry’s Law in 2011 and 2012.
