Registered Sex Offender, 40, Arrested In Undercover Sex Sting
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 40-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested for allegedly arranging to meet a 13-year-old girl, who was actually an undercover officer participating in a child sex sting.
Kevin Kendall was arrested Friday on two felony charges, including luring a child to commit a crime, according to court records.
The undercover officer made contact with the Long Beach resident on Aug. 21 in a teen chat room, according to Gail Krause of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Kendall, who used the online name "Cali M," told the investigator that he lived in Long Beach. He arranged to meet her at the Huntington Beach pier, but never showed up, Krause said.
Investigators later linked the "Cali M" moniker to Kendall, Krause said.
Police arrested Kendall while he was at work in Claremont.
