GARDEN GROVE (AP) — An Orange County man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy during a fight.
Garden Grove Police Lt. Jeff Nightengale says the boy died at a hospital early Saturday, several hours after being stabbed. The victim’s name was not released.
Police arrested 31-year-old Jose Gil on suspicion of homicide.
Nightengale says Gil and the victim knew each other from the Garden Grove neighborhood and had quarreled in the past. Investigators say Friday’s fight stemmed from a prior dispute.
Nightengale says Gil and one of several teenagers who were with the victim independently called the police to report what had happened.
