DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A man and woman surrendered to authorities Friday following a pursuit that started in Van Nuys and ended in Downey.

The chase began on the westbound 101 Freeway and continued on Interstate 5 before the driver exited the freeway at Lakewood Boulevard in Montebello.

The suspect, who was driving a black Mercedes at speeds of at least 85 mph, could be seen waving his fist through the sun roof.

He eventually turned down a residential street and exited the vehicle in front of a home. A woman then came running down the driveway with her arms raised and the two surrendered on the street.

Officers approached the suspects and the vehicle with their weapons drawn. Both were both taken into custody just before 11 a.m.
