SAN DIEGO(CBS) – Philip Rivers was selected as the Chargers’ team captain for the seventh-consecutive year

Along with Rivers, tight-end Antonio Gates and center Nick Hardwick were selected as offensive captains, by players vote Thursday.

The defensive team will be led by veteran linebacker Takeo Spikes and safety Eric Weddle.

Spikes, 35, will be starting his 200^th consecutive game at linebacker on Monday night against the Oakland Raiders.

Weddle, 27, is coming off the best season of his career by leading the NFL with seven interceptions.

Safety Darrell Stuckey is the team’s special-teams captain.
