Republican VP Candidate Paul Ryan Visits LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan was at two small fundraising events in west Los Angeles Thursday after stumping in Colorado.

Ryan's supporters shelled out serious money to see him at Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills and at the Holmby Hills estate of investment banker Josh Friedman.

Young professional Cheri Phillips, who got a ticket to the hotel event from a friend, managed to get few pictures of Ryan, but wanted to know more about the candidate.

"I don't know much about him, so I'd like to hear what he has to say," she said. "I am more Republican than Democrat, but I also like to know who I'm choosing and if it's the right decision."

Lowell Brown paid $2,500 to see the vice presidential candidate after hearing about the event 10 days ago.

"He's officially the nominee. And they're scrambling to get to as many events as they can to raise as much money as they can," he said.

Cell phone video captured a portion of Ryan's speech, where he criticized President Obama for going too far to the left and not compromising with Republicans like former president Bill Clinton did.

After leaving Beverly Hills, Ryan's motorcade arrived at Friedman's estate for a second fundraiser.

Ryan is scheduled to head to Reno, Nevada Friday to continue on the campaign trail.
