LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a 17-year-old girl who claimed she was abducted in California and taken to Las Vegas is on her way home, and no criminal charges have been filed.
Las Vegas police Sgt. Donald Hoier on Thursday called the case a cautionary tale about how teens can be lured into prostitution by promises of a Las Vegas Strip road trip.
Vice detectives determined the girl willingly got in a vehicle with a man Tuesday evening in Redlands, Calif.
Another man and a woman got in the car in Victorville, Calif.
The girl wasn’t hurt, and Hoier says it appears she wasn’t forced into sex before she sought help early Wednesday from officers at the Rio hotel-casino.
Hoier says that if police identify the others, they could still face kidnapping charges.
