Man Allegedly Impersonating Police Officer Pulls Woman Over For Traffic Stop

MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) – Police say there's a man in the Monterey Park area who is impersonating a police officer and warn female drivers to be on alert.

The man allegedly pulled over a female driver by placing red and blue flashing lights on his vehicle and driving behind her car, police said.

The woman became suspicious by the kinds of questions the man was asking and because he wasn't wearing a uniform.

When he asked the driver to move to the passenger seat she asked him to show the proper identification. The suspect refused, telling her to go home, police said.

Investigators said she was right to be suspicious because police generally wear uniforms and are instructed to show identification if asked for it.

The suspect was described as in his 30s, having dark, curly hair, an olive complexion and speaking with a Spanish accent, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect was asked to call detectives at (626) 307-1226.
