Witnesses Recall Armed Robbery At Hotel In Stevenson Ranch

STEVENSON RANCH (CBSLA.com) — Three armed masked men allegedly robbed a hotel in broad daylight on Monday in Stevenson Ranch.

The crime happened shortly after 5 p.m. at Comfort Suites in the 25000 block of The Old Road.

Eli Hoffman and his friends were on their way to dinner when they saw the suspects walking into the lobby.

"I see a really tall guy. He's just in a ski mask," he said. "I turn back and see one of the guys jumping across the counter with a gun in his hands."

One of robbers was small in stature. The sheriff's department said he was very young, but couldn't say exactly how old.

The biggest of the three was at least 6-foot-2.

"He had like, a 9mm pistol. It was a nice gun. They were not. I don't think they were intending to use it," said Hoffman.

Witness Thomas Ciminiello didn't realize what was going on until the group of friends walked out the door and he could hear the commotion from inside.

"There's panic. People are talking about how they were asked to be put on the ground at gunpoint," he said. "A part of me is really glad I was able to walk through and not get involved at all."

Hoffman said he's still stunned the robbery happened in broad daylight.

"They came in and it was really dead silent. They didn't come in hooping and hollering and making a bunch of noise. It was devastating," he said.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The manager at Comfort Suites said a few hundred dollars was taken from both registers at the front desk.

The suspects were last seen in a gold-colored sedan.

Video from the lobby's security cameras was handed over to the sheriff's department.
