ORANGE (AP) — The Orange County sheriff’s department says the district attorney’s office will investigate the death of a 49-year-old man in custody.
The department says Byron Scott died Sunday while he was being treated in the jail ward of the University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange.
Capt. Steve Doan says in the news release that the death does not appear suspicious.
Scott had been arrested Aug. 21 for a probation violation.
An autopsy is pending.
