LYNWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Two young girls were killed on Monday and three others were injured when a car drove off the Long Beach (710) Freeway, officials said.
California Highway Patrol officer Monica Posada said the crash on the northbound freeway at Imperial Highway in Lynwood was reported at 8:59 a.m.
According to the CHP, a black vehicle went off the side of the freeway, struck a fence, overturned and smashed into a tree.
Speeding may have been a factor, officials said.
Officials report that three people, including one girl, were rushed to a hospital with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
No further information was immediately available.
