LAGUNA HILLS (CBS) — Police announced Saturday that a “person of interest” in the stabbing death of a 23-year-old Laguna Hills woman was nabbed in Arizona.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to an “unknown trouble” call around 10:30 a.m. in the 22200 block of Caminito Tasquillo, said Captain Steve Doan of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon their arrival, sheriff’s deputies and Orange County Fire Authority personnel saw the homeowner doing CPR on the victim, identified only as a 23- year-old female, Doan said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said she had been stabbed several times.
Authorities immediately named 25-year-old Derek Pinski a person of interest in the case. He was reportedly home when the incident occurred but fled the scene, Doan said.
Pinksi was detained by the Mesa Police Department.
Officials have not released the dead woman’s name or relationship to Pinski, pending notification of her next of kin.
